I've heard various opinions from different people, most of which have encouraged me to get a "go-phone."
Being a victim of a serious iPhone addiction, I get anxiety just thinking about sleeping without my iPhone next to my pillow (shutup, you know you all do it!)
SO, ive come up with a solution!
Jailbreak my iphone and buy a UK SIM only tariff. (once again, Tarriff = plan. I know... it sounds like we've gone back in time to the Boston Tea Party)

How to Use Your iPhone in the UK: A Guide by The Queen
Step 1: Jail-breaking
Because AT&T is a typical greedymotherfuckin good ol' American Corporation, your iPhone is locked so that it can only work with an AT&T sim card. Thankfully, there are honest hackers in the world that have come up with a solution.
As of today, the most up-to-date version of the jail-breaking software is as follows:
Warning: Jail-breaking your iPhone, although legal, is a violation of your agreement with Apple Inc.. Proceeding with jail-breaking will breach your contract with Apple, preventing your iPhone from being serviced at Apple Genius Bar locations.
The good news: You can restore your phone to factory settings, erasing EVERYTHING and starting from scratch. Apple will never know this difference. Keep in mind this WILL NOT work if you restore from backup because the jail-breaking software will still be present.
Step 2: Pick your carrier
I personally think I'm going to go with O2's £20.00 tariff. ($32/month) It includes 300 mins, 500MB data and unlimited texts. Don't forget to add on an international plan so that when you're traveling to other countries so you don't get hit with roaming charges. Its an extra £10.00/month ($16) but worth it if you're planning on traveling on weekends like I am.
Step 3: Pop in your new SIM
You're gonna need a paperclip/sim unlock tool/or the help of a friendly person at the store to put in your new SIM card and youre all set!
KEEP IN MIND:
-your data limit is 500MB with O2 and its VERY expensive if you exceed the limit.
you can keep track of your usage by going to Settings>General>Usage. You can reset your counter to make it really simple.
-you should restore your phone when you get home to remove the jail-breaking software
Using your Blackberry in the UK is a similar process. You have to make sure that your Blackberry model is Quadband so that it can run on European radio frequencies. Then you can buy a sim card from the UK instead of having to purchase a go-phone and give up your precious crackberry.
